TROY, Ala. – Troy Director of Athletics Kyle George announced Thursday the addition of long-time athletics administrator Dan Heck as Troy's new Deputy Athletics Director for External Relations / Revenue Generation. Heck joins the Troy staff following a three-year stint at Alabama as the Associate Athletics Director of Strategic Marketing. Heck will officially start in his role at Troy in January.
"I am extremely excited to welcome Dan and his family to Troy," George said. "You win with people, and I am thrilled we are able to add one of the most dynamic marketers in the industry to our team. Dan will play a major role for us with a focus on revenue generation, fan experience, licensing and sport administration. He has a proven track record of success at each stop in his career, and I am confident that he will help our team reach new heights. Dan is a tremendous person who will be a great addition to our department as well as the Troy community."
Heck has spent the last nine-plus years in the state, serving as the Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement at Auburn from 2016 through the fall of 2022 before moving to Alabama.
"Courtney, Webb and I are incredibly excited to join the Troy Athletics Family, and we are truly grateful to Kyle George for this amazing opportunity," Heck said. "I look forward to getting to work and collaborating with our external units to continue growing the Troy brand in creative and innovative ways, elevating the in-venue experiences for our student-athletes and fans, and maximizing revenue and attendance."
At Alabama, Heck oversaw the Crimson Tide's marketing and digital & fan engagement departments. Additionally, he managed Alabama's partnership with Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) and the internal Trademark Licensing department.
During his tenure, Alabama set attendance and ticket revenue records across multiple sports while the Crimson Tide set a record-breaking licensing year this past season.
Prior to his role at Alabama, Heck directed Auburn's marketing and promotional plans for all 21 sports and served as the point of contact for football and men's basketball marketing efforts. Additionally, he coordinated all aspects of digital marketing and advertising within athletics and served as a liaison for the athletics department team shop and the Auburn University Trademark Licensing office.
Under his leadership, Auburn was named a finalist for the NACMA Marketing Team of the Year in both 2018 and 2022.
He joined the Auburn staff following a four-year run at Arizona, where he served as the Associate Director of Marketing for the Wildcats. Heck began his career at his alma mater, Central Michigan, as the Coordinator of Marketing and Community Relations from 2008 to 2012.
A native of Big Rapids, Mich., Heck earned his bachelor's degree in sport administration from Central Michigan in 2009 and his master's degree in sport administration from Central Michigan in 2011.
Heck and his wife, Courtney, have one son, Webb.
