TROY, Ala. - For the first time in program history the Troy baseball team will enter the season in the national rankings, coming in at No. 25 in the 2025 D1Baseball Preseason Top 25. Â
The Trojans reached new heights during the 2024 campaign with a No. 21 national ranking, its first since the 2013 season. With a third-place finish in the Sun Belt Conference, Troy went 37-22 on the season and is 109-68 in the last three seasons under Skylar Meade, the most wins in the first three seasons for any Troy head coach. Â
Troy returns some powerful pieces from the Sun Belt's No. 2 scoring offense. Junior Brooks Bryan enters the season among the nation's top MLB Draft prospects as the catcher blasted 18 home runs and set a new Troy record with 85 RBIs in 2024 while the Trojans also return the 2023 Sun Belt Player of the Year Shane Lewis, who has crushed 32 home runs during his two seasons in the cardinal & white. Â
Meade attacked the transfer portal to round out the Trojan lineup, snagging outfielder Steven Meier who ranked second in the Sun Belt in HBPs (24) and third in stolen bases (28) at Old Dominion. Infielders Blake Cavill (Western Kentucky) and Gavin Schrader (Niagara) bring loads of experience to the Troy offense, having each batted over .300 last season. Â
On the mound, the Trojans bring back veterans Garrett Gainous and Grayson Stewart, who both rank in the top ten in program history in strikeouts along with Luke Lyon who was an All-Sun Belt Second Team selection a season ago. Transfers Noah Edders (Bradley) and Adam Falinski (Eastern Michigan) have started a combined 38 games in their careers while Drew Nelson (Auburn) and Colby Frieda (Kentucky) bring experience from the SEC. Â
Troy enters the 2025 season as the top-ranked team in the Sun Belt Conference. The No. 25 Trojans will open its season at Riddle-Pace Field Feb. 14-16 with a three-game series against Bellarmine. Â
