Bland, McBride Named to Perfect Game Top 500 Fresh Arrivals on Campus

TROY, Ala. -Â The Troy baseball program welcomed in another talented freshman class this fall, and a pair of in-state prospects saw their names listed in Perfect Game's Top 500 Fresh Arrivals on Campus.Â
Infielder Peryn Bland and outfielder Drake McBride, both freshmen from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala., were ranked among the top incoming freshmen in college baseball this year. Bland was ranked No. 314 while McBride wasn't far behind him at No. 327. Â
Bland was named to the Birmingham Area Terrific 20 in back-to-back seasons to finish his career at Thompson. As a senior, Bland was named to the 7A All-State Second Team and batted .343 and a .912 OPS with three home runs and 30 RBIs.Â
McBride was also productive during his senior season, hitting for a .345 batting average and a .934 OPS with a pair of home runs and 16 stolen bases.Â
During the 2024 season, Bland and McBride led Thompson to a 29-11 record and an appearance in the 7A State quarterfinals.Â
Fans can get a first look at the 2024 Trojans this fall as they're set to host Northwest Florida State on October 18 before heading to Jackson, Tenn., to take on Tennessee on October 27.
