TROY, Ala. - After a productive season in Triple-A, former Troy outfielder Brandon Lockridge received the call to the big leagues on Wednesday when the San Diego Padres promoted him to their active roster.Â
Lockridge is the tenth former Trojan to make it to The Show and the first to debut in the bigs since T.J. Rivera in 2016. Â
The outfielder from Pensacola, Fla., is a career .271 hitter in MiLB and has hit .325 since joining the El Paso Chihuahuas (Triple-A, San Diego) earlier this season. Â
Lockridge spent three seasons at Troy from 2016-18, hitting for a career .306 batting average and leaving as the program's record holder for triples in a single season (7) and career (14). Â
As a sophomore in 2017, Lockridge was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team as a second baseman. When he moved to centerfield as a junior, he proved to be among the nation's elite defenders, becoming Troy's second ever ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Winner. Â
The New York Yankees selected Lockridge in the fifth round with the 157th pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, making him one of six former Trojans to be picked in the top five rounds. Â
