TROY, Ala. – Troy's 2024 tight end room is made up of two key upperclassmen, three returning underclassmen, two veteran transfers and two freshman recruits.
Kevin Reihner, the Trojans' new tight ends/tackles coach, has a deep group of players to replace the departure of Clayton Ollendieck.
Key Returners
Ethan Conner, a senior from Columbus, Mississippi, headlines this season's tight end room. Conner transferred to Troy before the 2023 season from East Mississippi Community College. The former "Last Chance U" product appeared in 10 games for the Trojans after suffering an injury early in the year against James Madison, yet he still managed to haul in 168 receiving yards and four touchdowns on just 16 receptions.
Brody Dalton, a junior from Fyffe, Alabama, is looking to take a bigger role in this year's offense. Dalton missed the first five games of the season last year after suffering an injury in the offseason. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end caught five passes for 88 yards in nine games for the Trojans.
Tyce Khatri, Fabian Rogosch and Jackson Worley cap off the returning players from last season's roster. Khatri, a redshirt freshman from Prattville, Alabama, did not see game action in his first season at Troy but is currently the leading candidate to serve as the Trojans' hybrid fullback/tight end. Rogosch, a redshirt sophomore, converted from defensive end to tight end last season and only saw action on special teams in 2023. Worley, a redshirt freshman, missed all last season after suffering an injury during fall camp.
New Faces
Trae Swartz, a junior transfer from Iowa Western Community College, was a part of the Reivers back-to-back NJCAA national championship-winning seasons.
Chad Barham, a 6-foot-4 freshman, comes to the Wiregrass as the Trojans' highest rated tight end addition this past offseason. 247Sports ranked the Henderson, Tennessee, native as the No. 90 player in the state of Tennessee. On3 rated the former Chester County High School Player of the Year as the No. 51 player in the state and as a top 100 tight end in the nation. Barham was a three-star recruit and finished his high school career with over 2,500 receiving yards and earned all-region honors as a junior and as a senior.
Tyler Geary, a sophomore transfer from Monmouth, is another defensive end that Troy is converting into a tight end. Geary appeared in seven games as a freshman in 2022 and finished the season with 16 tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks.
Brooks Mauk comes to Troy all the way from Matthews, North Carolina, where he played at Weddington High School. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound freshman caught 10 passes for 137 yards and four touchdowns as a senior and was named the Charlotte Touchdown Club Comeback Player of the Year.
