TROY, Ala. – Troy Football opens fall camp Wednesday morning with the first of 12 practices before school starts in the middle of August; players are due back on campus after lunch on Tuesday.
Â
"I couldn't be more pleased with our summer," head coach Gerad Parker said. "The work put in by our players and staff has put us in a good position heading into fall camp. I told the guys before they left for this little break that we are starting the fourth quarter of our year. January to February is the offseason, the second quarter is spring practice, the summer is the third quarter, and now it's time to bring it home. All the preparations we've worked extremely hard on for seven months go into this moment. We're excited to get going and see the fans of Troy back in The Vet soon.Â
Â
Fall Camp Look Ahead
Parker will have 12 practices and 14 days with his team before classes resume on Aug. 14 for the fall semester. The Trojans will break practices into three four-day blocks as they work towards the season opener against Nevada on Aug. 31.
Â
"The first four-day segment is going to be heavy on teaching our guys how to practice," Parker said. "We haven't had equipment on since the spring, so that's always an adjustment period putting pads back on, and when you're a physical team like we are, learning how to be competitive in practice while staying healthy is critical.
Â
"The second segment is going to be getting our team to be physical," Parker said. "Let's flip the lights on and see who can play and be physical, and then the third segment is how you play situational football while still being physical. We'll throw in the third down situations, goal line, red zone, two-minute, anything that can happen during a game."

Stock Report
Troy enters the 2024 season with the fewest seniors (11) nationally and among the nation's leaders in newcomers to the roster, with 57 additions since Parker took over the reins of the program in late December.Â
Â
"I feel good about where we're at from an install phase for offense, defense and special teams, but we are in no way a comfortable football team heading into camp," Parker said. "We have an accountable football team, and they love football, which takes away a lot of stress from having to handle issues and problems that sometimes show themselves in programs.Â
Â
"Now that we're in season mode, we have to pay extreme attention to playing disciplined football, where we don't hurt ourselves between the lines," Parker said. "We have to move from a spring mode where you play a little looser to learning how to play with a passion and an edge, but also being able to shut it off when the whistle blows. Another point of emphasis will be managing ball disruption and ball security. Point differential in relation to turnovers will never change, so we must disrupt the football on defense and take care of it offensively."
