Russ, Stringer Headed to NOLA for Sun Belt Media Day

TROY, Ala. -- The 2024 football season is nearing and with that means the annual Sun Belt Conference Football Media Day in New Orleans. The Sun Belt West will be in the spotlight on Wednesday, July 24, and joining first-year head coach Gerad Parker for the Trojans will be junior offensive lineman Eli Russ and junior linebacker Jordan Stringer.
The complete schedule for SBC Media Day will be released in the coming weeks, which includes Troy's time on the main stage and in the SBC Studios, both of which will be covered live on ESPN+. Additionally, Barry McKnight will be in New Orleans providing covering the event with previews of all eight of Troy's Sun Belt Conference opponents, plus in-depth interviews and breakdowns with the Troy contingent and Sun Belt staff.
Eli Russ - C / Jr. / 6-4 / 313 / Ardmore, Okla. / Oklahoma State
2023 (Sophomore): Started at center in 13-of-14 games for the Trojans (missed one due to injury) … Played 863 offensive snaps … Allowed just three sacks in 466 pass blocking situations; three hits and six hurries allowed … Blocked for Kimani Vidal, who was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year and AP All-American after setting school records for single-game, single-season and career rushing yards … Blocked for just the third 3,000-yard passer and 1,000-yard rushing combo in program history … Did not allow a hit on the quarterback in 11-of-13 games … Six games with a perfect 100 efficiency rating from PFF
Jordan Stringer - LB / Jr. / 6-2 / 220 / Augusta, Ga. / Laney HS
2023 (Sophomore): Started the final six games of the season and finished third on the team with 68 tackles … Added 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble … Recorded 10 tackles in victories over South Alabama and Southern Miss; added a tackle for loss against the Jaguars and a half TFL against the Golden Eagles … Forced a fumble, intercepted a pass and had an interception in victory at Texas State … Six or more tackles in six games, including eight in the 76 Birmingham Bowl against Duke … Played 591 snaps, the most of any returning defensive player in 2024 … Credited with 18 total pressures and 14 hurries
