TROY, Ala. – As the 2024-25 men's basketball season nears closer, head coach Scott Cross announced on Wednesday afternoon the addition of Evan Griffin to the 2024-25 roster.
Griffin is a native of Geneva, Ala., and graduated from Geneva High School earlier this year, and comes to Troy following a successful high school career.
"We are extremely excited to add Evan to our basketball team," Cross said. "Evan lives right down the road and had an outstanding senior season. He is a very versatile basketball player that can defend multiple positions because of the combination of his size, strength and athleticism. Evan is an "OKG: Our Kind of Guy"! He will continue to get better and will help us compete for Sun Belt Championships every single year!"
Griffin, a 6-9 forward, is coming off a remarkable senior season in which he averaged 25.6 points, 14.2 rebounds and 3.0 blocks. He was named to the 2023-24 First Team All-State in 4A and was a finalist for the AHSAA Class 4A Boys Player of the Year Award.
He finished his career with over 1,000 points and was named to the Dothan Eagle Super 12 following his senior campaign. Griffin also played baseball in high school.
In addition to this signing, Troy signed brothers Cobi Campbell and Cooper Campbell in the November signing period. The Trojans open their season at home against Toledo in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Nov. 4.
