Troy-Buffalo Announce Football Home-and-Home Series; Troy to Have Seven Home Games in 2027

TROY, Ala. – Troy and Buffalo announced Tuesday a home-and-home football series that has the Trojans traveling to the Bulls in 2025 and Buffalo making the return trip to The Vet in 2027. The visit from Buffalo in 2027 gives Troy seven regular season home games for the first time in program history.

"Securing a seventh home game in 2027 is unprecedented for Troy Football as it gives our amazing fans an incredible home schedule as we welcome SEC foe Mississippi State and a strong Buffalo program that has played in bowl games in four of the last six years," Troy AD Brent Jones said.

The series with Buffalo was added after Troy had two holes in its schedule due to UMass' announcement in February that it was joining the Mid-American Conference beginning with the 2025 season. Troy was scheduled to travel to UMass in 2025 and 2027, with the Minutemen playing in Troy in 2030; one of the road trips was the backend of a previous home-and-home agreement.

Troy's visit to Buffalo on Sept. 20 completes its 2025 schedule that features home games against Memphis and Nicholls State and a road game at Clemson.Â

Buffalo's visit to The Vet is slated for Sept. 25, 2027, marking a run of three-of-four at home to open the season for the Trojans. Southeastern Louisiana comes to town on Sept. 4 in the season opener, followed by Mississippi State two weeks later on Sept. 18.

Troy and Buffalo have met just once previously, a 42-32 Troy victory in the 2018 Dollar General Bowl in Mobile, Ala. The Trojans don't have much of a history against the current members of the MAC, with nine previous meetings on the books and just four being regular-season matchups; home-and-home series with Akron and Bowling Green.Â
