Troy Athletics Hands Out Top Awards at Annual Trojan Tribute

TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics handed out its top individual, team and academic awards on Monday evening at its annual Trojan Tribute ceremony in Trojan Arena. Kimani Vidal took home top male honors, Taylor McKinney took home top female honors while Troy Football repeated as #OneTROY Team of the Year.

Vidal was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year and a third team All-America selection by the Associated Press after finishing the season as the nation's second-leading rusher. McKinney led the Trojans with a .349 batting average and smacked 12 home runs en route to earning first-team all-district honors. Troy Football won its second straight Sun Belt Conference title in 2023 as the Trojans finished the season 11-3 and earned a berth in the 76 Birmingham Bowl.

Track athlete Martin Bouldo received the top honor of the year, the Trojan Way Leadership Award. This award is given to the student-athlete who is the epitome of a Troy student-athlete and is the true definition of a student-athlete leader both on campus and in the community. Â

Troy's top academic honors were given to softball's D'Aun Riggs (Sorrell Award for the female graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA) and Bouldo (Clements Award for the male student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA). Both the men's and women's cross country teams won the team GPA award.
