Shaulana Wagner Named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Troy senior guard Shaulana Wagner was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning, after becoming the first D-I Troy women's basketball player to record a triple-double in the 85-67 win over Memphis.
"'Wag' is playing great basketball and elevating her team in so many ways," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "Not many people can do what she is doing on the court right now. She is doing special things, and I'm happy she is receiving this special award."
Wagner became the first player to receive the SBC Player of the Week award in 2024-25 and the first since Ja'Mia Hollings on Feb. 20, 2024. No. 13 currently ranks 17th in the country and leads the SBC in assists at 5.8 per game.
The Detroit, Mich. native stuffed the stat sheet last Saturday against Memphis to improve the Trojans to 5-5 in nonconference play. Wagner became the first Trojan to secure a triple-double in Troy women's basketball D-I history with a 12-point, 11-assist, 10-rebound stat line. Her triple-double ties her with 11 players nationally for first in Division-I basketball.
First, she netted her 12 points on 6-of-13 from the field before dishing off a career-high 11 assists – the first Trojan to have double-digit assists since Sharonica Hartsfield had 10 (Ball State – Nov. 11, 2023). Wagner made history in the final four minutes when she secured four rebounds, including her 10th with 1:05 remaining to secure the triple-double.
Troy and Wagner resume action on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. in the 2024 Cherokee Tournament against Toledo.
