TROY, Ala. – Troy football head coach Jon Sumrall announced Thursday the addition of Donovan Callis, a cornerback from East Central (Okla.) University. He will join the program this summer and has one year of eligibility remaining.Â
Â
"Donovan is a tremendous football player and fits in perfectly with how we play on the defensive side of the football," Sumrall said. "He's long, plays with an edge and has an instinct for the football that is second nature. Donovan was a highly recruited transfer, and we are excited that he has chosen to be a Trojan."
Â
A Los Angeles native, Callis earned All-Great American Conference honors last season after he tallied 32 tackles, broke up seven passes, forced five turnovers (three interceptions and two fumbles) and recovered a pair of fumbles.  In 27 games for East Central, he recorded 77 tackles, three tackles for a loss, three interceptions, 20 pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.
Â
He helped lead the Tigers to a 10-3 record, capped by a four-game winning streak to end the season and victory in the Heritage Bowl. Â
Â
Callis earned all-district honors as a senior at The Colony High School, where he helped lead the Cougars to a district championship.
