Troy Adds Home & Home Series with Sam Houston

TROY, Ala. – Troy announced Wednesday a home-and-home football series with Sam Houston in 2026 and 2029.
Troy hosts Sam Houston on Sept. 12, 2026, in the first leg of the series against the future member of Conference USA, while the Trojans make the return trip to Huntsville, Texas, on Sept. 1, 2029, for the season opener that year.
The two schools have a brief history with eight meetings from 1968 through 2000; Troy leads the all-time series 7-0-1. The Trojans won all five meetings as rivals in the Southland Conference from 1996-00 and took the first two games in 1968 and 1969 before a 20-20 tie in 1970.
Sam Houston begins its transition to Football Bowl Subdivision status this season and will be full members of C-USA beginning with the 2023 season.
