TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics announced Tuesday that the department will assume oversight of the T-Club Letterwinners Association moving forward in an effort to streamline the relationship between Troy's former letterwinners and the athletics department.Â
Â
"We are thrilled at the opportunity to grow our letterwinners association and see this growth as an integral part of our strategic plan moving forward as we further connect our letterwinners to our current student-athletes,"Â Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "I greatly appreciate the support of the Troy University Alumni Association and Troy University to make this transition a reality."
Â
The T-Club is open to all former letterwinners from all varsity sports as well as to cheerleaders, mascots, athletic trainers and managers. T-Club membership is just $100 per year and includes invitations to special events and tailgates plus membership in the Troy Alumni Association. Registration is as simple as visiting TroyTrojans.com/TClub and filling out the online form.
Â
"I am excited to see the T-Club become a part of the Troy Athletics Department as this will help our letterwinners maintain a strong connection with our coaches and current student-athletes," Julius Pittman, a member of the 1987 Troy State Football National Championship team, said. "This presents a great opportunity for more letterwinners to become a member of this great organization and maintain their status as Trojans for life."
Â
Designed to provide an opportunity for letterwinners to stay connected, engaged and involved with Troy Athletics and their specific team, the T-Club will be managed by former football letterwinner, two-time Troy graduate, and current Assistant Athletics Director of Ticketing Ryan Kay.
Â
"I highly encourage all former student-athletes from all teams to join the T-Club and become a part of the growth taking place within the Athletics Department," Troy Sports Hall of Fame member and two-time national champion Freddie Thomas said. "Now is the time to further your involvement and reconnect with your former teammates as part of the T-Club in addition to the opportunities that we have to impact our current student-athletes and their success on and off the field. Therefore, I am challenging every former athlete to join us for the ride and become a member now. Go Troy."
Â
Part of the transition includes creating an oversight board of directors for the T-Club. Individuals wishing to serve on the board must be members of the T-Club and can reach out to Kay -- akay@troy.edu or 334-670-3681.
