Trojans Earn 2022 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

TROY, Ala. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) announced on Monday that Troy volleyball has earned the 2022 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for their outstanding performance in the classroom.
This is the ninth time in program history that Troy volleyball has been an honoree.
"I continue to be humbled and extremely proud of the effort and achievement of our players academically," head coach Josh Lauer said. "They continue to make their academic success a priority, and the way they support each other and represent Troy University as Student-Athletes is something I am truly grateful for as their coach."
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
Earlier in the year, Trojan volleyball took home Female Team GPA Award for the highest team GPA of Troy teams during the 2021 season.
The Trojans will kick off their 2022 campaign on August 15th with a scrimmage against Samford from Trojan Arena before they head to Athens, Ga., to begin the regular season against the Georgia Bulldogs on August 26th.
