Troy Shoots Low Round of Day, Finishes Fifth at Sun Belt Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Troy fired the lowest round of the day and climbed three spots on the leaderboard into fifth place following the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday at the LPGA International Hills Course.

Anna Claire Little paced the Trojans with a 1-under 71 and was one of just two players in the 55-golfer field to shoot under par as a wild wind again wreaked havoc on the golf course. The Troy junior carded a pair of birdies – on the par-5 second and par-14 13^th – and only had one bogey on the day. Little rocketed 23 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 23^rd place at 12-over for the tournament.

Troy entered Tuesday's final round in eighth place after shooting a 20-over 308 in Monday's second round. However, the Trojans carded 10 birdies on the day to pass by South Alabama, Georgia State and UT Arlington on the leaderboard.

Georgia Southern led wire-to-wire to capture the team title, winning by four shots over top-seeded Coastal Carolina. Arkansas State finished five shots off the pace in third, Texas State was nine shots back in fourth and Troy was 11^th shots back in fifth.

ShaeLee Scarberry and Alyssa Mercado led Troy for the week as the duo tied for seventh place at 8-over par. Scarberry was 1-over on Tuesday with a trio of birdies while Mercado shot 8-over. Mercado was in the hunt for the individual title but dropped four strokes in the final four holes with two bogeys and a double-bogey; Georgia Southern's Sarunchana Rattanasin won the individual crown at 4-over.

Bruna Roqueta shot 6-over on Tuesday to finish tied for 37^th place at 17-over for the week, and Elizabeth Caldarelli finished in 46^th place after turning in an 83 on Tuesday.

Troy dropped the second-most birdies among the 11 teams in the field as the Trojans found the pin 26 times ahead of the par mark, led by eight from Mercado and seven by Scarberry.
