MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Troy dropped its final pool play contest of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament against UTA Friday at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. The Trojans couldn't overcome a hot Maverick start as they fell, 11-5, bringing their season to a close.

Drew Frederic (2-5, 2B) and Dalton Sinquefield (2-4, 1 R) each registered multi-hit games while Logan Cerny homered for the 15^th time this season.

UTA (27-29) started fast with six runs on six hits in the opening frame to grab an early lead. Cerny's home run, a solo shot off the bottom of the scoreboard, got the Trojans on the board in the bottom half of the first. The Mavericks would homer in both the second and fourth innings before capitalizing on a Troy error in the fifth to extend their lead to 9-1.

Rigsby Mosley singled in the fifth to cross Frederic, who doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch, but UTA got the run right back in the top of the sixth with an RBI-single of its own.

Troy (27-26) crossed three runs in the sixth, highlighted by a Seth Johnson RBI-double and a Nic Nolan infield single, to cut the deficit to 10-5. A bases-loaded walk in the eighth extended the UTA advantage back to six at 11-5, and the Trojans were unable to answer.

Garrett Gainous (9-5) suffered the loss after a tough first inning while Jarod Seals (1-0) was the pitcher of record for UTA. In total, Troy used eight arms on the mound compared to the Mavericks' nine.

I'm proud of the way we finished to get to this tournament and that we played our best baseball down the stretch. Unfortunately, we didn't play our best here in Montgomery. It's unprecedented the things they've had to do and go through since March of 2020."

Logan Cerny recorded his 15^th home run of the season, the second-most by any player in the Sun Belt.
Drew Frederic registered the 58^th double of his career, the most of any Trojan in program history. Of his 296 career hits, 95 of them went for extra bases.
Lance Johnson made his 118^th appearance on the mound as a Trojan, the second-most among active Division I players.
Seth Johnson doubled for the second time this season to log his second RBI of the year.
Dalton Sinquefield recorded his second multi-hit game of the tournament and the 40^th of his career.
