Troy Adds Clemson to 2028 Football Schedule

TROY, Ala. – Troy added another piece to its future football schedule with the addition of Clemson to its 2028 slate. The Trojans will open the season with the Tigers on Sept. 2 at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C.
This is the second future game between Troy and Clemson on the books with Troy paying a visit to Death Valley in 2025. The 2025 contest will be the third meeting between the two schools with Troy putting a scare into Clemson in each of the first two games.
"This will be an exciting trip for both our football program and our fans," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "Clemson is one of the premier programs in the country and Death Valley is a great venue for college football. When we schedule games against Power Five opponents, it is important for us to find matchups that are compelling from a football standpoint and ones that our amazing fans can travel to easily as well."
In 2016, Troy dropped a 30-24 decision at Clemson, the eventual CFP National Champions, in a game that featured a controversial 14-point swing at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Trojans forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown, but the officials blew a late whistle claiming the play dead – Clemson scored a touchdown one play later. In 2011, Troy led Clemson at the half, 16-13, and the Trojans were within seven early in the fourth quarter before the Tigers pulled away for a 43-19 victory.
Troy's non-conference schedule for the 2028 season now features a home game against Southern Miss and road contests at UAB and Clemson.
