Horne, Johnson and Sinness Dubbed NCFA All-Region Team Selections

TROY, Ala. – Highlighted by First Team All-South Region second baseman Kelly Horne, Troy Softball garnered three NCFA All-South Region selections, the office announced Thursday.

Joining Horne was pitcher Leanna Johnson, who was tabbed a member of the Second Team All-South Region and outfielder Jade Sinness, who was selected to the All-South Region third team.

"It's just a well-earned honor for Leanna, Kelly and Jade," head coach Beth Mullins said. "All three of them have been consistent all year and been a big part of this team's success. I am excited for them and all our players on Team 28!"

Horne heads into the opening round of the Tuscaloosa after exploding in the Sun Belt Conference tournament. The slugger batted at a .667 mark with a double, three home runs, 7 RBIs and six walks. On the season, Horne is batting at .383 with 17 doubles, eight home runs and 46 RBIs.

Johnson notched the second NFCA nod of her career after being tabbed a member back in 2019. The righty leads the Sun Belt Conference with a 1.50 ERA and ranks nationally in strikeouts (242) and victories (20). Johnson has tossed seven shutouts, pinning opponents to a .162 batting average. The Brantley native has also recorded a pair of saves.

Sinness, the lefty leadoff slugger, rounds out Troy's all-region selections. The freshman has led the Trojans in home runs for the past two seasons. In 2021, the outfielder has hit eight longballs. Sinness currently ranks fourth in Troy's single-season runs scored records, having scored 50 times. On the season, Sinness is batting at a .333 mark with 14 doubles and 31 RBIs.

The Trojans season continues Friday (May 21st) when the squad faces Clemson for the opening round of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional. First pitch from Rhoads Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
