Get To Know Jada WaltonÂ
Walton comes to Troy following two seasons at Texas Tech after transferring from Texas A&M. Walton didn't play in any games for the Red Raiders due to transfer rules and injury. She spent two seasons (2017-19) at Texas A&M where she played in 58 games making two starts. While with the Aggies she averaged 1.7 points per game and 1.4 rebounds in just eight minutes of action per game. She earned 22 steals and dished out 29 assists while blocking nine blocked shots in her career. She scored a career-best 14 points against UT Rio Grande Valley (Dec. 29, 2018) and picked up four steals against Auburn (March 8, 2019). She was named to the AD Honor Roll both seasons with A&M and selected to the SEC Honor Roll twice. Prior to her time at Texas A&M she led Southwest Dekalb High School to a 79-17 record and the 2016 Georgia 5A State Championship. She was named the Dekalb County Player of the Year in 2016-17 and a Third Team All-Metro Atlanta by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. She was ranked as the 30th best guard in the 2017 recruiting class and rated as a three-star prospect by ESPNW.
Rigby On WaltonÂ
"We have wanted Jada to be a Trojan for a very long time. She is a smart, versatile guard who is good both offensively and defensively. I am looking forward to her being a leader both on and off the court for us."Â
Troy is coming off its third Sun Belt Tournament Championship, fourth overall Sun Belt Title, and its third NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Chanda Rigby. Troy made national headlines in the NCAA Tournament against No. 2 seed Texas A&M when they erased a 16-point deficit to lead the Aggies late in the fourth quarter before narrowly falling to the Aggies by just four points. Troy's 80-points scored was the third-most points scored by a 15 seed in NCAA tournament history.Â
