Troy Travels to Birmingham for In-State Rivalry Matchup

TROY, Ala. - Â Following a 10-day hiatus, the Troy Softball team returns to action for a midweek tilt against in-state rival UAB. First pitch from Mary Bowers Field is set for 6 p.m.

After the Lady Vol Invitational was canceled due to weather last weekend, Troy (22-6) will return to action against the Blazers (13-13) for the second matchup between the programs this season. The Trojans played host to UAB in the Trojan Classic, where Troy downed the Blazers, 8-0 back on Feb. 12.

On the season, senior Katie Webb leads the Trojans offensively batting a .375 clip with eight doubles, two home runs and 21 RBIs. In the previous matchup against UAB, the first baseman went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Leanna Johnson (12-3) leads Troy's pitching staff posting a 1.33 ERA with 157 strikeouts over 94.2 innings of actions. Freshman Libby Baker (4-2) earned her first win of the season against the Blazers after scattering three hits over five innings of work.

SCOUTING THE BLAZERS:
UAB enters the midweek tilt after having its series with Charlotte canceled last weekend. Sierra Frazier leads the way offensively batting a .366 with five doubles, four home runs and 11 RBIs. Last time against the Trojans, Frazier went 0-for-2 at the plate.

Amy Woodham (2-7) has thrown 43.1 of the Blazer's 173.1 innings this season, recording a 3.72 ERA with 40 strikeouts. Emily Kachel suffered the loss against Troy after giving up four runs, five hits and a walk.
