Career Highs from Miguel, Punter, and Turner Lead Trojans Past Arkansas Baptist

TROY, Ala. – Troy won its third straight game Saturday after defeating Arkansas Baptist 84-64 at Trojan Arena thanks to career highs from Rifen Miguel, Kieffer Punter and Christian Turner.
Troy (8-4) was led by Miguel, who finished with his first Trojan double-double ending the night with 17 points and pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds. Punter also added 17 points, and Turner finished with 13.
The Trojans shot 48 percent from the field, forcing 18 Buffalo turnovers. In addition, the Trojans worked the glass as they finished with 46 total rebounds, one shy of a season-high. Troy is now 5-1 at home.
Arkansas Baptist point guard Trejon Ware led all scorers with 24 points. The Trojans' bench outscored the Buffalo bench 51-11.
In his first start of the season and in 23 minutes of game time, Turner didn't miss a shot going 5-5 from the field, knocking down his only triple attempt of the game and hitting both his free throws.
Arkansas Baptist held the lead for the first 22 seconds of the game after hitting a three. After that, the Trojans controlled the scoreboard the rest of the game and eventually get out to a 29-point lead.
Punter, who hit four total three-pointers to lead Troy, scored nine of his 17 points in the second half.
Up Next: The Trojans will hit the road for three straight games, starting with a trip to Mercer on Wednesday, December 22, at 5 pm. The Trojans won't be back at Trojan Arena until January 6, when they take on Coastal Carolina.
