TROY, Ala. – Troy's All-American long snapper Cameron Kaye has been selected to play in the Hula Bowl as he officially accepted his invitation on Wednesday.
Â
Established in 1946 as the Hula Bowl All-Star Football Classic game, the Hula Bowl game was created as an All-Star game that would only invite NCAA college players from schools across the US. The teams were divided into two teams, one team from those colleges located in the Eastern and Western United States. The teams were then split into "Aina and Kai" teams, the Hawaiian words for Land and Water.
Â
This year's event will take place Sunday, Jan. 15, in Orlando, Fla., at Bounce House Stadium and will feature former NFL coaches Wade Phillips, Mike Tice, Ron Tuner, Tim Lewis, Brian Billick and Mike Smith.
Â
Kaye, a native of Naples, Fla., was named to the Special Teams U All-America Third Team last week and was a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top long snapper.
A five-year starter for the Trojans, Kaye has amassed more than 500 snaps in his Troy career and has a 99.8 percent success rate on his field goals, extra points and punts snaps. Last week, Kaye accepted an invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Â
Kaye graduated from Troy cum laude with a degree in exercise science in May 2020 and is currently pursuing his master's degree in exercise science.
