Troy Athletics encourages all fans to save the date for Troy University's fourth annual Giving Day on Thursday, October 21. On this date, all Trojans are encouraged to unite and showcase their support for the school that we all love by contributing toward an area of campus that you are passionate about.
"Troy Athletics is extremely fortunate to have some of the most passionate and generous fans and donors," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "Time and time again, our donors have stepped up philanthropically in record-setting numbers. These gifts allow our student-athletes to compete and succeed at the highest level – in the classroom as well as on their respective playing fields. We look forward to being part of Troy University's annual Giving Day on October 21 and encourage our supporters to show the strength of Trojan Nation behind this initiative once again."
Over the last three years, Troy Athletics has experienced tremendous growth in the number of donors contributing to the Trojan Warrior Club and the overall amount of financial resources donated to the Trojan Warrior Club. In terms of philanthropic donations, Troy Athletics has seen an increase of 33 percent in yearly giving from 2019 to 2021.
Even more impressive is the number of individuals that have made gifts to the Trojan Warrior Club. In 2019, that number stood at 990 individuals. In 2020, the Trojan Warrior Club had 1,046 donors. During this time, the Trojan Warrior Club embarked upon the Drive to 1887, which is focused on growing our number of donors to 1,887 individuals. Currently, the number of donors in 2021 stands at 1,531 – a growth of 46 percent and tracking well toward our stated goal of 1,887.
Troy student-athletes truly feel the impact of these gifts from donors in a variety of ways. Some of the most visible impacts have been through facility upgrades utilized by various student-athletes daily. In recent years, gifts made to the Trojan Warrior Club have allowed for a complete resurfacing and laser grading of the soccer field, a new field turf at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the only Taraflex volleyball court in the Sun Belt Conference, a new TrackMan system for baseball, a new TrackMan system for golf and the introduction of two brand new Sprinter vans for the golf programs. These are just a few of the capital improvements that have resulted from the generous support of Trojan Warrior Club donors.
Troy Athletics has also experienced significant growth in the Leadership Society. Established in 2018, this donor level includes individuals committed to making gifts of $25,000 or more over five years. To date, 34 individuals/couples have joined the Troy Athletics Leadership Society since its inception. In 2021, the Leadership Society has experienced tremendous growth as 13 individuals/couples have joined, representing nearly 40 percent of the overall membership.
As Troy University's Giving Day approaches, you may ask yourself how you can get involved and become a supporter of Troy Athletics. The answer to that question is that there are many ways to become involved! Donors may make gifts directly to the Trojan Warrior Club to support Troy Athletics. They may also involve their children through the T-Roy's Team Kids Club as well as their pets in the newly formed T-Roy's Pet Pals Club. These clubs provide unique ways for fans of all ages to be connected to Troy Athletics and support our student-athletes. Opportunities are also available through the T-Club as well as sport-specific giving avenues. For more information on Troy University's Day of Giving, visit Troy.edu/GivingDay
