TROY, Ala. – Troy's football game at South Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 3, has been selected for broadcast on ESPNU and the game will kickoff at 7 p.m. from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile.
This year's "Battle for the Belt" is the first Saturday matchup between the two schools since 2015 – the previous four games have taken place on Tuesday, Wednesday (twice) and Thursday.
The ESPNU selection marks Troy's third straight game on national television to open the season. The Trojans defeated Middle Tennessee, 47-14, this past Saturday in Troy's first-ever regular season game on ESPN. Troy will make it two weeks ago on the primary network of the Worldwide Leader in Sports with a showdown against No. 18 BYU set for broadcast on ESPN Saturday at 9:15 p.m. (CT).
Troy leads the all-time series with South Alabama, 5-3, and the Trojans have won three of the four meetings in Mobile and three of the last four meetings overall.
