Luke Whittemore Named to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

TROY, Alabama – Troy junior wide receiver Luke Whittemore has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, the Wuerffel Trophy announced Thursday. The award is presented annually to honor college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.
Whittemore is one of the leaders on Troy's team in the community assisting with the Trojans' efforts at the local schools, the Christian Love Center, the Colley Senior Complex, Special Olympics plus other community initiatives.
On the field, Whittemore started all 12 games last season and the Gainesville, Fla., native enters 2020 with 46 career receptions for 631 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, he caught 34 passes for 431 yards and two touchdowns.
The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented each February in Fort Walton Beach, and is named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback from the University of Florida, Danny Wuerffel.
Season tickets for the 2020 season are on sale now and fans who purchase or renew their tickets during the month of July will be eligible for Troy's "Summer of Prizes" giveaways.
