MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Troy dropped a 9-7 decision to Southern Miss Tuesday evening at Riverwalk Stadium. The Trojans took a 7-2 lead into the seventh inning but couldn't seal the deal against the Golden Eagles.

Five Trojans had multi-hit nights, highlighted by Drew Frederic's 3-4 night at the plate and Dalton Sinquefield's three-RBI performance, two of which came on his third home run of the year. Bay Witcher worked past a shaky start to go 4.1 innings and strikeout four batters.

Southern Miss (12-4) notched two runs in the first inning before Troy's (9-8) one-two punch of Rigsby Mosley and Drew Frederic each scored in the bottom half of the inning. The Trojans took the lead in the fifth inning on Sinquefield's two-run homer to right field.

Mosley, Sinquefield and Easton Kirk all batted in a run in the sixth inning to give the Trojans a 7-2 lead over the Golden Eagles. Troy then gave up seven unanswered runs to Southern Miss, including a five-spot in the seventh inning, to fall behind 9-7.

Tyler Lantz got credit for the win while Hunter Stanley earned his third save of the year for Southern Miss. DJ Wilkinson was tagged with the loss for the Trojans
