FOLEY, Ala. – Cheyenne Hayes has been named to the Sun Belt Volleyball Championships All-Tournament team, the league announced Sunday. Hayes becomes the fourth Trojan to garner Sun Belt All-Tournament honors and just the fifth to earn conference all-tournament recognition this century.
Hayes tallied 57 kills in 13 sets played at the tournament, good for a 4.38 kill/set average. The senior also posted 25 digs, five blocks and two aces on the week. Hayes was also one of Troy's best passers during the tournament, receiving at a .982 clip with just two errors on 114 attempts.
The Newnan, Ga., native notched a season-high 23 kills on .348 hitting against UT Arlington, which was the most kills by a Trojan in a SBC Tournament match in school history. Facing elimination with a 23-19 deficit against the Mavericks, Hayes recorded five kills during a 7-1 run that sent the Trojans to the semifinals.
"Cheyenne had a great tournament," head coach Josh Lauer said. "Her consistency offensively and in serve receive was crucial to our success. I think she once again showed that she is one of the elite players in the conference and arguably the best six rotation outside hitter in the Sun Belt."
