TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team began practice last week in preparation for its upcoming trip to France and Spain. The Trojans will spend eight days between Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona and will play two games while on their tour.
As part of the trip, the Trojans are allowed 10 practices prior their departure on July 29.
"The opportunity to travel abroad to Paris, Madrid and Barcelona is priceless for many reasons," Troy head coach Chanda Rigby said. "Not only does it broaden the worldview of our student-athletes, but it binds us even closer as #OneTROY."
While in France, the Trojans will visit Les Invalides, Cham de Mars, Arc de Triomphe, Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, Sorbonne University, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Eiffel Tower. The team will also see Madeleine Church and Vendome Square in the Opera District as well as a walking tour of Sacre Coeur.
In Madrid, Troy will take a city tour that includes Las Ventas Bullfighting Arena and Museum, Royal Palace, and Plaza Mayor before playing its first game of the tour on Aug. 2.
The final stop of the trip takes place in Barcelona where the team will take in a flamenco show and tour Sagrada Familia, La Rambla and Gothic Quarter. The second game of the tour is set for Aug. 5 at Pavello Poliesportiu Municipal de Tiana in Barcelona.
Troy returns nine letterwinners from last season's 22-win team that earned a berth in the Women's NIT. The Trojans have added JUCO All-Americans Tiyah Johnson and Alexus Dye, 2018 NJCAA national championship runner-up Tyasia Moore, along with former Eastern Kentucky guard Emely Rosario, who was named NJCAA All-American honorable mention at Kilgore College last season.
