Troy Named to AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll

The Troy volleyball team has been selected as a recipient of the 2018-19 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the AVCA announced Monday.
Additionally, the Trojans were named to the AVCA's Team Academic Honor Roll which signifies a top-25 combined team GPA among Division I schools. The team recorded a combined GPA of 3.62 during the 2018-19 academic year.
"I'm extremely proud of the academic accomplishments of our team and the high standard they set for themselves in the classroom," head coach Josh Lauer said. "Winning the AVCA Team Academic Award was a goal the team set last August, so it is very rewarding to see all of our players' hard work pay off."
A total of 189 Division I schools were selected as recipients of the award, but only 25 were named to the Team Academic Honor Roll.
"By finishing with a team GPA in the Top 25 among all Division I volleyball programs, our players continue to take our program to new heights," Lauer said. "We talk all the time about representing Troy University the right way and being crazy enough to dream big and make history. It is really fun to see our players make great things happen. They are truly building the empire both on and off the court."
Troy opens its regular season at the Jax State Invitational Friday, Aug. 30 against Southeastern Louisiana.
