Troy-Georgia Southern Suspended in Seventh

TROY, Alabama – Game two of the Sun Belt Conference series between Troy and Georgia Southern was suspended in the seventh inning after inclement weather made its way through Pike County. The game will resume Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT) followed by game three approximately 40 minutes after its conclusion. Both of Sunday's games will be streamed live on Facebook Live (@TroyAthletics).
Troy led the game, 4-2, after a solid pitching outing by Levi Thomas. The sophomore struck out six batters in six innings of work and is in line for the win once the game resumes.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the first on an RBI single by Noah Ledford. Troy responded in the bottom half with an RBI hit by Chase Smartt and a run-scoring double by Sadler Goodwin.
Cole Prestegard became the first Trojan to homer in three straight games since Danny Collins in 2013 when he deposited a line drive over the fence in left field; it was he seventh home run of the season.
Tyler Martin walked to leadoff the fourth and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jason Swan to draw Georgia Southern to within a run, 3-2.
Smartt continued his white-hot streak at the plate with an RBI single to center in the fifth, the 17thrun he's plated in the last 10 games.
