Troy Football Adds Three to Signing Class

TROY, Alabama – Troy added to its record-breaking signing class with the addition of three players who recently signed scholarship agreements with the Trojans, head coach Chip Lindsey announced Friday.

Troy focused on adding depth to the defensive side of the football with the latest additions as the Trojans signed cornerback Monte' McGary from Iowa Western, defensive tackle Elgin Griffin from Eastern Arizona and defensive tackle Malik Pertee from Vanguard (Fla.) High School.

"Our fans have come to expect championship-level defense, and these three guys are going to ensure that legacy continues," Lindsey said. "In addition to being outstanding football players, Monte', Elgin and Malik are all great young men, and we expect them all to make immediate impacts on our program. We are looking forward to having them on campus this fall."

Troy's signing class is the top-ranked in the Sun Belt by average ranking and this marks the third straight year Troy has climbed the national rankings with its recruiting class. As it stands, Troy's class ranks 20 spots higher nationally than last year's group which was rated the best in school history.

Honored as squad's Special Teams Player of the Week after two-tackle performance at Missouri State ... Notched at least one tackle in all three FCS Playoff games, including two-tackle outing in semifinal game at James Madison

2016 (South Dakota State): Redshirted

High School: In two seasons at Omaha South, totaled 61 receptions for 1,341 yards with 12 touchdowns and averaged 21.9 yards per catch ... Also tallied nearly 600 return yards … As a junior, recorded 34 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns … Also added 404 kick return yards, 27 tackles and an interception

2017-18 (Eastern Arizona): Helped lead Eastern Arizona College to a 9-3 record and a Western States Football League championship … Earned second team all-region honors after he finished the season with 51 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks for the Monsters … As a freshman, recorded nine tackles and a tackle for loss; also recovered a fumble
