Troy, Ala. – Nicholas Stampley has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Troy men's basketball team as announced by first-year head coach Scott Cross on Friday afternoon.Â
Â
Stampley, a native of Pompano Beach, Fla., comes from Eastern Florida State College where he averaged 10.1 points and 7.0 rebounds this past season, helping the Titans to a 28-8 overall record.Â
Â
Throughout the season Stampley scored 10 or more points in 20 games out of 35 played including dropping a season-high 24 points on 10-of-13 from the field, a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc with five rebounds, a pair of assists, two steals and a block against Salt Lake Community College.Â
Â
Additionally, Stampley played a major role in the Titans' run to the elite eight in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament as he earned a spot on the NJCAA All-Tournament Team after averaging nine points and seven rebounds per game in the tournament.
Â
After a stellar season Stampley is ranked as the No. 20 junior college prospect by 247sports.com.
Â
Prior to heading to Eastern Florida, Stampley played high school basketball at Blanche Ely in Pompano Beach, Fla., and guided the Tigers to the FHSAA Class 7A State Championship in his senior year (2015-16).Â
2018-19 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
Â
QUOTING COACH CROSS
"I am extremely excited to have Nick Stampley join our basketball program. We want winners in our program and Nick is a winner. Nick epitomizes the definition of an "OKG: Our Kinda Guy". He will do whatever it takes to win a basketball game; he will dive on the floor for a loose ball, take charges, get deflections, and takes pride in stopping the opposing team's best player."
Â
QUOTING STAMPLEY'S JUCO COACHÂ
"Troy got a big-time player in Nick Stampley," Jeremy Shulman said. "He is the toughest player in the country, and a flat-out winner. Nick will always be a special player and person to me, and I'm extremely excited to follow his success at the next level with Troy!"
