Troy Football Adds Two Off-Field Staff Members

TROY, Alabama – Troy football head coach Chip Lindsey continued to add to his off-field staff on Monday with the addition of Dayne Brown as director of recruiting and David Faulkner as director of player personnel / high school relations.

"Recruiting is the lifeblood of any program and we're excited to have Dayne and David playing key roles in that area," Lindsey said. "They come from different backgrounds with the majority of Dayne's experience coming at the collegiate level and David's at the high school level. I think this will really help diversify our recruiting staff and be a great benefit for our program."

Brown comes to Troy from Kansas where he served as the special teams analyst and assistant director of recruiting for one season.Â

Brown, who has been in a number of roles at both the collegiate and high school levels, joined the Kansas staff following two seasons at Kent State where he was the director of football operations. Prior to his time at Kent State, Brown served as director of recruiting and player development at Southern Miss from 2013-15 where Lindsey was the offensive coordinator for the final two seasons of his tenure.Â

The Southern Miss offense broke five single-season school records in 2015: completions (312), passing yards (4,263), total offense yards (6,758), touchdowns (67) and points (528), as the Golden Eagles recorded nine wins, a Conference USA West title, and a berth in the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl against Washington.Southern Miss was just the second school in FBS history with a 4,000-yard passer, a 1,000-yard receiver and two 1,000-yard rushers.

Brown spent two seasons as defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky. Prior to returning to the collegiate level, Brown was the head football coach and head weightlifting coach at Harmony (Fla.) High School for three years. In 2009, Brown was named the Florida Athletic Coaches Association 4A Coach of the Year and the 2009 Orange Belt Conference Weightlifting Coach of the Year.Â

Brown worked as associate director of football operations at Northwestern during the 2007 season and 2008 signing class under Pat Fitzgerald. Prior to Northwestern, Brown was the defensive coordinator at both Lake Howell (Fla.) High School and St. Cloud (Fla.) High School. He also spent six seasons as head coach at Magoffin County (Ky.) High School.Â

A 1996 graduate of Morehead State University, Brown received his bachelor's degree in social sciences and a master's in educational leadership at Union College.Â

Dayne and his wife Gina, have a daughter, Hannah, who recently graduated from the University of Florida.

Faulkner, a longtime head coach at the Alabama high school ranks, joins the Troy staff following seven years as the head coach at Enterprise High School where he led the Wildcats to four playoff appearances at the top level of Alabama high school football. He was named the Alabama 7A Coach of the Year following a 10-2 run in 2016.

Prior to taking over at Enterprise, Faulkner led Fairhope (Ala.) High School to a 28-9 record over three seasons culminating with an 10-3 record in 2011. The Pirates made three straight postseason appearances and won four playoff games; Fairhope had won just three playoff games over the previous 20 years combined.

Fairhope set a school record for points in 2011 and Faulkner guided the Pirates to a No. 4 ranking in the Alabama 6A polls during his first season in 2009.

He spent two seasons (2007-08) as the offensive coordinator at Foley (Ala.) High School under current Tennessee Director of Operations Todd Watson. The Lions posted a combined 22-3 record and won a region title during his tenure.

Faulkner preceded his stint at Foley with four seasons (2003-06) at powerhouse Hoover (Ala.) High School where he spent one season coaching the defensive backs before taking over as the offensive coordinator for three years. The Buccaneers won three Alabama 6A state titles and played in the championship game all four seasons.

Faulkner began his coaching career at Clarke County (Ala.) High School (1998-99) in Grove Hill. After two seasons, Faulkner moved to the newly formed Alma Bryant (Ala.) High School, where he served as offensive coordinator (2000) and eventually head coach for one season (2001).

Faulkner spent one season at Prattville in 2002, helping the Lions to a 12-2 record and a spot in the semifinals.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Troy in physical education in 1996. Faulkner is married to the former Christie Garrett and the couple has three children, Garrett, Grayson and Caroline.
