Nineteen Troy Student-Athletes Earn Degrees Friday

TROY, Alabama – Nineteen Troy University student-athletes were among the 673 students who received their degrees Friday at Troy's fall commencement exercises inside Trojan Arena.

Among the student who were expected to earn their degrees Friday, 502 received an undergraduate degree, 159 earned their master's degrees, six earned a doctorate of nursing practice degree and five earned the educational specialist degree. Students who graduated represented 26 U.S. states, 14 different countries and three territories.

Six of Troy's athletic programs were represented in the ceremony led by six from the football team, plus five men's track & field student-athletes and four softball student-athletes. Seven student-athletes graduated with honors including Madison Friedman who graduated Magna Cum Laude, and Madison Brune, Madeline Porter and Shaaz Peerani who all graduated Summa Cum Laude.

The commencement address was delivered by Katie Boyd Britt, the president and CEO of Business Council of Alabama. Britt, became BCA's first female president and CEO – and its youngest – in January 2019. BCA is a statewide association that advocates for companies of all sizes throughout Alabama. Prior to that, she served as chief of staff for U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, after having practiced corporate law with Butler Snow in Birmingham and Montgomery.
