Jeffcoat Tabbed Defensive Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Lacey Jeffcoat has been named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This is the first time in Jeffcoat's career she has garnered a weekly honor.
"Lacey had a great weekend and has been playing some of the best volleyball of her career the last few weeks," head coach Josh Lauer said. "She continues to be the anchor of our defense and brings the best out in her teammates. Lacey brings so much more to the team than how many digs she gets on match night."
Jeffcoat averaged a stellar 6.14 digs per set in two matches over the weekend, including a season-high 25 total digs in Troy's second-ever win over UT Arlington. The sophomore added two aces, two kills and two assists to her performance.
The Mountain Brook, Ala., native has been hot from the service line this season. She ranks 36th in the nation in aces per set (0.45) and 41st nationally in total aces (32).
Jeffcoat is the fourth Troy individual to receive a weekly award this season and this is the seventh time a Trojan has been recognized by the league this year.
