Need to Know – Gameday at The Vet; “Battle for the Belt”

Purchase Tickets
TROY, Ala.– The latest installment of the Drive Safe Alabama "Battle for the Belt" takes place Wednesday night in The Vet when Troy plays host to South Alabama. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. but the pregame festivities start much earlier than that in and around the stadium.
Fans can visit TroyTrojans.com/Gameday prior to each visit to campus to see the latest information on parking, traffic flow and tickets for each of Troy's home games.
Food Trucks
Several food trucks will be setup along University Avenue beginning at 4 p.m. with items available for purchase as fans enjoy the pregame festivities. Vendors for this will include Jack's, Wilson Kettle Corn, J's Desserts, Patton's, Kona Ice and Coca-Cola. The Alabama Peanut Producers will also be setup with free food samples as well.
Kids' Activities
Carnival season is in full swing and the same will be true for Octoberfest at The Vet. Children of all ages are invited to Riddle-Pace Field to enjoy the Kids Zone that will feature inflatables, carnival games, pumpkin painting and face painting. The Troy cheerleaders plus the Charles Henderson High School cheerleaders and dance team will also be on hand.
Beer Garden
The concession stand at Riddle-Pace Field will be turned into a beer garden during Octoberfest at The Vet, and fans of age can partake in wide selection of craft beers. Fans consuming these beverages will be asked to stay within the confines of Riddle-Pace Field until they have finished their beverage.
Tailgate Concert Series
Jaycob Curlee will take the stage for the Tailgate Terrace Concert Series from 4 to 6 p.m. with a small break for Trojan Walk at 5 p.m. Curlee has performed on America's Got Talent and will be performing a variety of covers that all fans will be able to enjoy.
Troy Kids Zone
The Troy Kids Zone opens at 4 p.m. and is located in the outfield of Riddle-Pace Field. Children of all ages are invited to take part in the fun with free inflatables until 6:30 p.m.
Basketball Fan Day
The men's and women's basketball teams will also get into the action as they will hold their annual Fan Day in Tailgate Terrace from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Fans can stop by their tents to interact with the teams, get free schedule posters and autographs. The student-athletes and coaches will also have several tailgate games setup for fans of all ages to enjoy and have chances to win great prizes from the teams as well as your local McDonald's. Both teams will also be recognized during the second quarter of the football game.
During the game, men's head coach Scott Cross is rumored to dress in a full football uniform and sit in the student section with women's head coach Chanda Rigby and they will have a few surprises up their sleeves for Troy students.
Trojan Walk
Troy's traditional pre-game march into Veterans Memorial Stadium, Trojan Walk, will begin at the intersection of University Avenue and George Wallace Drive. The Trojans will walk through the brick portal into Tailgate Terrace before entering the stadium at Gate 1. Trojan Walk will begin at 5 p.m.
Halftime Fireworks
Troy's annual halftime fireworks show is back for the Drive Safe Alabama "Battle for the Belt" and take place in conjunction with the Sound of the South's halftime performance.
Breast Cancer Awareness
This game will also be our annual breast cancer awareness game. Fans will be able to interact with the Guardians of the Ribbon out in tailgate terrace prior to the game. They will have pink fire trucks along University Avenue that fans may sign in honor or in memory of loved ones who have battled Breast Cancer.
Student Guest Tickets
Troy students may continue to purchase $10 student guest tickets for this game. Students may visit the Troy Ticket Office or call (334) 670-3681 to take advantage of this offer to bring family and friends to the game. And thanks to Domino's Pizza, Troy students will be treated to free pizza during the fourth quarter of the game!
Youth Sports Day

Studio host Doug Amos is joined by "Voice of the Trojans" Barry McKnight, game analyst Jerry Miller and sideline reporter Junior Louissaint on location in front of Trojan Arena for the radio pregame show beginning at 5 p.m. to preview the game on the full Troy Sports Radio Network.
In-Game Recognitions
Miss Troy University 2019 Kayla Mitchell, Helen Keller Lecture series speaker Erik Weihenmayer who was the first blind individual to climb Mt. Everest and the Football Bowl Association Executive Leadership Symposium attendees representing all bowls in the FBS will all be recognized during the game.
Parade of Flags
Prior to kickoff, the Office of International Programs, along with the Sound of the South, will have the annual Parade of Flags take place. Troy University Students will proudly display flags from the 55 countries represented by the students that attend Troy from around the world.
Traffic Information
George Wallace Drive will CLOSE two (2) hours prior to kickoff until one (1) hour after the completion of the game from International Blvd. (traffic light at Charles Henderson High School) to Johnny Long Drive.
- Fans with access to National Guard Armory Lot and North End Zone Lot will be granted access to those lots within the two-hour closure with the proper parking pass. ALL traffic to those lots MUST enter from the north end of George Wallace Drive – from Downtown/Elm Street not Highway 231.
