Â
TROY, Ala. – One of the nation's top cornerbacks, Troy senior Blace Brown has accepted an invitation to play in the 94thEast-West Shrine Game on Jan. 19 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game will be televised live on NFL Network with a 2 p.m. (CT) kickoff.
Â
Brown, a native of Canton, Ga., finished his Troy career with 12 interceptions after the former walk-on converted from wide receiver prior to his sophomore season. His interception tally is the third most among active players nationally and he ranks second among active players with at least 10 career interceptions with 0.30 picks per game (he is first with 0.32 per game when not counting three games at receiver in 2014).
Â
He earned All-Sun Belt Third Team honors this season after bouncing back from an ACL injury he suffered in Troy's Sun Belt title clinching victory at Arkansas State in the 2017 finale – ironically, he suffered the injury making an interception. Brown started the final seven games of his senior season and recorded 44 tackles with six pass break ups, an interception and blocked a field goal on the final play of his career.
Â
Brown earned first team league honors as a junior after he ranked 11thnationally with five interceptions following a breakout sophomore campaign where he intercepted six passes to finish seventh in the country.
Brown and the Trojans are coming off a third-straight bowl victory (fourth straight dating back to 2010) and a 10-3 season. Troy's 31 wins since the start of the 2016 season currently stand as the eighth most in the country over that period. Â
