Â
TROY, Ala. – Thirteen Troy University student-athletes were among the more than 500 students representing 17 U.S. states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and five nations outside the U.S that received their degrees during Troy' summer commencement exercises Friday in Trojan Arena.
Â
Seven of Troy's athletic programs were represented in the final commencement ceremony of the 2017-18 academic year. A total of 67 Troy student-athletes graduated during the current academic year, and Trojan student-athletes continued to put up record numbers in the classroom. Seven programs posted record scores in the latest NCAA APR report and four programs – baseball, men's golf, women's cross country and women's golf – led their respective peers in the Sun Belt in APR.
Â
Japan's Atlanta consulate-general Takashi Shinozuka provided the keynote address during the commencement exercises. Shinozuka assumed the post, his first in the United States, in January 2016 and directs the consulate's operations in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
