Troy Signs Ole Miss Transfer Kate Rodgers

TROY, Alabama – Troy women's basketball head coach Chanda Rigby announced the signing of Ole Miss transfer Kate Rodgers on Tuesday.

Rodgers, a 6-2 forward, played her prep career at Wenonah High School in Birmingham. While a member of the Dragons program, she helped lead her team to a 121-20 record in four seasons highlighted by three consecutive state titles.

"Kate will be one of the strongest and most skilled post players in the Sun Belt Conference," Rigby said. "She is an aggressive rebounder, she can run the floor and she can score facing the goal as well as with her back to the basket … she's the total package."

Ranked as the No. 9 forward in the nation by Prospects Nation, Rodgers signed with Ole Miss and played 31 games over two seasons. She hauled in 90 rebounds and shot 43.4 percent (23-53) from the field as a sophomore last season.

Prior to Troy (Ole Miss):Played in 23 games, started three as a sophomore … Averaged 2.9 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game … Finished the season shooting 43.4 percent (23-53) from the field … Hauled in 90 rebounds, seventh most on the team … As a freshman, Rodgers averaged 1.1 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game in 18 appearances with one start … Grabbed a rebound in eight of her last 14 games … Tallied 5+ rebounds on four occasions … Career-high six points vs. ULM … Nabbed a career-high eight rebounds vs. Wisconsin; most rebounds by an Ole Miss freshman this season … Earned first career start against Jackson State; was the first Ole Miss freshman to make a start that season.
