Amara Anderson Named Setter of the Week

TROY, Ala. – For the second week in a row, Troy volleyball's Amara Anderson has earned Sun Belt Setter of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Anderson is only the third player in program history to win consecutive weekly awards and the first since Rachel Hassan claimed back-to-back Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors in 2002.

The Alpharetta, Ga. native helped lead Troy to another perfect weekend on the road in conference play. She recorded 55 and 49 assists at Georgia Southern and Georgia State, respectively – an average of 11.56 per set.

The freshman now leads the league with 10.82 assists per set on the year and leads the total assists category by over 40. Her 55 assists in Friday's match are tied for the eight most in a single game by any player in the conference this season.

On top of her impressive assist numbers, she also added 31 total digs on the weekend – 17 and 14 – extending her impressive streak of consecutive double-doubles to seven straight matches.

Anderson and the Trojans return to Trojan Arena this weekend as they play host to UT Arlington and league-leading Texas State on Friday and Saturday – both games are set for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
