Troy Softball Announces 2017 Fall Schedule

TROY, Alabama- Troy softball and head coach Beth Mullins announced Troy's 2017 fall schedule on Monday afternoon. Troy will begin their fall campaign on the road and will return home to host four games in two weekends at the Troy Softball Complex.

"The fall is always an important time of year for our program," Mullins said. "Every team is different and the fall gives us a chance to see the things we are good at and to also see the areas we need to improve upon. This group has been working hard over the past few weeks and we are excited to finally get out on the field and compete as a team."

The Trojans will start their season with a triple-header at the JSU Tera Ross Memorial Tournament in Oxford, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 30. Troy will face Wallace State-Hanceville at 1:30, Bevil State at 3:15 and will wrap up the day against Talladega Community College at 6:45.

Troy will return home to conclude the fall schedule in the first two weekends in October. The Trojans are slated to face Northwest Florida State in a double header on Oct. 7 at 1 and 3 p.m.

Gulf Coast State College and AUM will make the trip to Troy on Oct. 13. The Commodores will face the Trojans at 4 p.m. and the Warhawks will close out fall play against Troy at 6 p.m.

The Trojans look for a fresh start this season with the addition of former player and new pitching coach Jaycee Affeldt. Troy also welcomes nine newcomers to the program.

"We have an exciting group of newcomers this year with two freshmen pitchers, a lot more speed and some big bats," Mullins said. "These nine newcomers combined with a very solid group of returners and good senior leadership are going to give us some great ingredients for a successful fall and spring season."
