TROY, Alabama – The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) continues to lead the charge to make a difference in the community – promoting community development across all of Troy Athletics.
Over 20 student-athletes participated in "Team Up to Clean Up" with the City of Troy to keep the city beautiful by picking up trash along the streets.
The women's basketball team took advantage of their free time in New Orleans during their Sun Belt Tournament Championship run by visiting St. Michael's Special School and John Clancy Maggiore Elementary School. During their time at the schools, the players visited classrooms, played with the students during physical education time, helped out with craft projects and encouraged the children to strive to be the best they can be.
Meanwhile, women's tennis, track & field, men's golf and football teams were all busy making an impact back home in Pike County.
The women's tennis team participated in Goshen Elementary School's "Diversity Day" with 2nd grade students, track & field spent time with the residents of Noble Manor nursing home and men's golf visited Pike Liberal Arts School to read to 1st graders on Dr. Seuss' birthday.
Three Trojan football players also read to children during Dr. Seuss week at Banks Elementary School and six student-athletes visited Pike County Boys' and Girls' Club every Thursday in the month of March to play with the kids and help them with schoolwork.
