Troy Heads to Texas State for Final Road Series of the Season

TROY, Alabama- The Troy softball team heads west for the final road trip of the season to face the Texas State Bobcats in San Marcos, Texas. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 pm, and Sunday's finale is set for noon.

The Trojans (20-29, 8-14 SBC) are coming off their first series sweep of the year against Appalachian State. Strong hitting from freshman Logan Calhoun, who was a home run shy of the cycle in Sunday's match up, powered the Trojans past the Mountaineers.

Claire Graves and Rachel Rigney Brown both had dominant performances in the circle. Rigney Brown fell just one hit shy of a perfect game in Saturday's 5-0 shut out.

 Senior Becca Hartley looks to take solo possession of the third place spot in the Troy single season record books in home runs. She is currently tied with Hannah Day with 16 homers on the season. She currently holds the third place career home run record with 39. Hartley is batting .433 in conference play and has a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Texas State (35-11, 14-6 SBC) is coming off a non-conference 3-1 win over UTSA. The Bobcats are currently ranked second in the conference, and are led by junior Ariel Ortiz at the plate. Ortiz is batting a .350 at the plate with 13 home runs, 43 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .736.

In the circle, 2017 All-Conference and Pitcher of the Year, Randi Rupp leads the Bobcats with a 1.22 ERA with 253 strikeouts through 195.2 innings of work.
