Softball Heads to Mobile for Mid-Week Tilt with South Alabama

TROY, Alabama – Troy (15-19, 3-6 SBC) will travel south to Mobile, Ala., for a Wednesday night show down with conference rival South Alabama. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Jaguar Field. This will be game one of a three game series with South. The final two games will be played at the Troy Softball Complex on May 7.

The Trojans are coming off of a tough weekend in Conway, S.C., where they dropped three games to Coastal Carolina. Troy fell by one run in each of the three games.

Senior Becca Hartley continues to lead the team with a .340 average at the plate, 12 home runs, 32 runs and 30 RBIs. She set a new career home run record as she hit her 12th home run of the season against Coastal Carolina. Her previous record was set last year as she hit 11 homers on the season.

South Alabama (19-12, 2-7 SBC) is coming off of a series loss to No. 17/20 Louisiana Lafayette. MC Nichols leads the Jags at the plate with a .417 average through 28 games. Amanda Minahan has also had a strong season at the plate with six home runs and 23 RBIs. In the circle for the Jags, Devin Booker has thrown 102.1 innings with 121 strikeouts and an ERA od 1.92.

NOTEWORTHY
• Troy leads the conference in doubles with 44 so far this season. Nine players have recorded multiple doubles while Erica Davis, Stephanie Snyder and Becca Hartley lead the team with seven each.

• Hartley is tied for fifth nationally with 12 home runs through 34 games this season. She is also in the top-50 with a slugging percentage of .764. She was nominated as Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week last week.

• Katie Webb is the only freshman on the team to start all 34 games this season, all at third base.

• Madeline Porter looks to extend her 12 game reached base streak, a career and current team high.
