Softball Returns Home for Mid-Week Double Header Against Southern Miss

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team returns home after an 11-game road swing to host a double header against Southern Miss on Wednesday, March 15, at 4 and 6 p.m. at the Troy Softball Complex.

The Trojans (12-14, 1-2 SBC) are coming off a series loss to Georgia Southern where they opened conference play. After a close game one, the Trojans fired back to take game two 11-3 off of a Becca Hartley grand slam and Kaylee Hussey's first career home run. In Sunday's deciding game, Troy fell 8-3 after an explosive sixth inning and six run rally from the Eagles.

Sophomore Stephanie Snyder has had a big season so far after starting all 26 games in left field and posting a team-high .333 average at the plate. She leads the team in hits (28) and doubles (6). Snyder set a season high going 4-4 at the plate in game two against Georgia Southern.

Claire Graves earned the win in game two against the Eagles as she threw a complete game of six innings and only allowed one earned run. She moves to 5-2 on the season and holds a team-low ERA of 3.11.

Southern Miss (12-10) is coming off of a series loss against UAB where it went 1-2 on the weekend in the Conference USA match up. The Golden Eagles will travel to Montgomery, Ala., on Tuesday to face Alabama State before taking on the Trojans on Wednesday.

• Sophomore Madeline Porter looks to extend her four game hitting streak, a career-high and the current team-high.
• Hartley, Erica Davis and Jordan Gray have all safely reached base in eight consecutive games.
• Snyder also leads the team with 10 multiple-hit games, followed by Hussey with five. Â
• Troy is 11-3 all-time against Southern Miss. Their last meeting was in 2015, and the Trojans defeated the Golden Eagles 3-1 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Troy will continue play at home as they host Georgia State in a Sun Belt Conference showdown on March 18-19. Saturday's doubleheader will be at 1 and 3 p.m. and Sunday's game is set for noon.
