TROY, Alabama – Troy softball head coach Beth Mullins announced the addition of two transfers on Thursday. Taylor Corbett joins the Trojans after one season at Gulf Coast State College while Madeline Porter comes to Troy after one season at Ball State University. Both players will have three years of eligibility.
Â
"We are really excited about the addition of both Taylor and Madeline," Mullins said. "They are both very talented athletes that can play multiple positions and are strong at the plate. They are a great fit for our program, and we can't wait to get them on campus and get to work."
Â
Corbett, a Phenix City, Ala., native, joins the program as an outfielder that will provide depth to the roster. She played in 51 of 52 games last season at Gulf Coast State, led the team with a .448 batting average and was third on team with a .453 on-base percentage. Corbett posted 27 RBIs, 33 runs and 23 stolen bases.
Â
Prior to her freshman season at Gulf Coast State, Corbett played for Central High School where she was named an all-state shortstop her senior season.
Â
A native of Birmingham, Porter joins the Trojans after playing in 37 games last season for the Ball State Cardinals. She scored 12 runs off five hits and posted 12 RBIs.
Â
Prior to her first season at Ball State, Porter lettered four years at Oak Mountain High School. She was a two-time All-Over The Mountain honoree and was named to the Hoover All-Tournament Team in 2012. She helped guide Oak Mountain to a third place finish at the 2012 regional tournament.
