Benton and Day Named to All-Sun Belt Conference Teams

MOBILE, Alabama – Troy senior Hannah Day was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team and senior Kate Benton was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team, the league announced Tuesday night at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Family Night.

Day, who was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team as an outfielder, leads the conference with 64 RBI and 119 total bases. She ranks sixth nationally in RBI and ninth in RBI per game with 1.21. Her 16 home runs lead the Trojans and ranks second in the Sun Belt. Additionally, she leads the squad with 12 doubles and is batting .337 with 57 hits, 43 runs and has a .704 slugging percentage.

Benton was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team as a second baseman. She currently leads the team and Sun Belt with 40 stolen bases and ranks 12th nationally with .75 stolen bases per game. In addition to stolen bases, she leads the conference with 52 runs scored and is second in the Sun Belt with 73 hits. Her .417 batting average is a team-high along with runs scored and hits.

The Trojans will open conference tournament play on Wednesday against UT Arlington at 12:30 p.m. at Jaguar Field.
