Troy Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Alabama A&M

TROY, Alabama – Playing its final home match of the season, the Troy women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win over Alabama A&M at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Troy (11-5) has now won six of its last eight matches with just three remaining before the Sun Belt Championships begin in New Orleans on April 21.
On Saturday against the Bulldogs, Troy easily grabbed the doubles point, taking 6-0, 6-3 and 6-2 decisions at No. 3, No. 2 and No. 1, respectively, to go ahead 1-0.
Tereza Melicharkova quickly gave Troy a 2-0 lead as she won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Hannah Seizer was the next to finish, taking a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 2 singles. Efriliya Herlina clinched the match for Troy with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3.
Nancy Karaky finished just minutes later with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Alabama A&M (3-11) got its lone point with a win at No. 1 singles. Alicia Rodriguez closed out the match with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles.
The Trojans return to the court on Friday and next Saturday when they travel to Boone, N.C., to take on No. 47 Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Troy then closes the regular season at No. 57 Florida State on Friday, April 15.
