Women’s Golf Finishes Second at Sun Belt Championship; Lohbauer Places Fifth

MIRAMAR BEACH, Florida – Led by freshman Bianca Lohbauer, the Troy women's golf team finished in second place at the Sun Belt Conference Championship as play concluded Tuesday at the Raven Golf Course.
Lohbauer, who earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors on Monday, fired a 3-over 74 in the final round to finish her first Sun Belt Championship at 12-over par and in fifth place. She made the turn at 1-under after a birdie on the sixth hole and went on to earn All-Tournament honors.
Fátima Fernandez Cano continued her assent up the leaderboard after firing her second straight 3-over 74 to finish in a tie for sixth after opening the tournament with a 7-over par. Cano earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors for the third straight year and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Cano, who entered the week ranked 21st in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings, should receive an at large berth into the NCAA Regional field; the selection show is set for April 25 at 5 p.m. on the Golf Channel.
Troy shot a 20-over-par 304 in the final round and finished 19 shots back of Texas State. The Trojans had won the previous two Sun Belt Conference Championships with Texas State finishing second both years. Maty Monzingo won the individual title after winning the second playoff hole against Little Rock's Shania Berger.
Becca Horner carded a 9-over 80 en route to finishing in a tie for 18th place, while Lindsey Harrison finished in 22nd place after shooting a 5-over 76 on Tuesday. Gabi Oubre' rounded out the field for Trojans in 35th place after she fired an 88 in the final round.
